DASH FAQ
When is the DASH year?
The DASH 'year' runs from July 1 - June 30.
Do I need to be an EMACT member to have my show DASHed?
Yes. You can become a member here. Membership in EMACT also includes great benefits like networking, promotional, and educational opportunities, eligibility for local and regional festivals and more.
How much does it cost to have my show DASHed?
At the 6/10/23 Annual meeting of EMACT membership it was voted to increase the cost of DASH to $125 each starting with the 2023-2024 season (as of 7/1/23.)
Where do my DASH fees go?
All DASH fees are rolled directly back into the program, providing small stipends to our expert Consultants, providing Consultant training, and mounting the Annual DASH Gala.
How can I submit my show to be DASHed?
Fill out our application form here! This form must be filled out for each show in your season you want DASHed. Each show also needs a Professional Disclosure form.
When is the latest I can submit my show to be DASHed?
We require 30 days notice before your opening night for a show to be DASHed. This allows us time to arrange schedules and assign Consultants.
How are productions scored?
Consultants score productions in three major areas: Performance and Direction, Concept and Design, and Overall Impression. Documents detailing our scoring can be found here.
How are Consultants assigned to shows? Can I request a particular Consultant?
To ensure both integrity and transparency all Consultants are assigned randomly to shows.
What is "Professional Disclosure" and why do I have to fill out this form?
Since DASH is intended to recognize amateur productions, productions that rely on paid professionals may be ineligible, based on certain guidelines. By requiring disclosure of paid professionals working on a production we keep the playing field as level as possible.
Why did you discontinue the tiered DASH structure (e.g. Enhanced, Enhanced-Plus)?
In the 2020 survey of our members we found that DASH wasn't reaching its goals for constructive feedback and providing opportunities for engagement and improvement. We decided that providing the written comments to all our member companies as a matter of course was the best strategy to achieve this.
