Our membership year begins on 1 September 2009. Community theatre companies or groups must be members of EMACT to enjoy its benefits and services, which include the DASH program, the ETC program, and the annual Festival. For 2009-10 the fee for Individual membership is still $20. The Basic fee for Companies/Groups is still $50, and is available throughout the year.

The Distinguished Achievement and Special Honors (DASH) program sends reviewers to two different performances of a group’s show, who rate every aspect of the show according to standard criteria. At the end of the year those with the highest ratings are nominated for awards in many categories. The winners are announced at the annual EMACT Gala. For 2009-10 the DASH fee has been kept at $35. For theatre groups located beyond 30 miles from Boston, the fee is $45, to allow for the extra fuel expense.

The EMACT Theater Consulting (ETC) program sends a consultant to either a performance or a dress rehearsal of a group’s show. Written or verbal feedback is provided to the production staff and/or cast. The ETC fees remain unchanged at $35 verbal or $50 written.

The annual Festival provides a fully equipped stage on which groups present one-hour shows, followed by comments from three adjudicators. Nominations and awards are given in many categories. The entry fee for the festival is $150. We do expect the Festival to go on as planned in June 2010.
